Yes, you can work while you’re studying in Australia. International students are permitted to work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight during study periods and unlimited hours during study breaks. There are no work restrictions for students completing a masters by research or doctoral degree. The Australian government has recently introduced the new post study work policy for international students. This will enable international students to gain practical work experience in Australia after they graduate and enhance their overall international study experience.
Graduates who have completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Australia will be eligible for post study work in Australia for up to 2 years. Graduates who have completed a Masters by research degree or Doctoral degree will be eligible for a 3 or 4 years post study work visa.
If you have completed previous study, or you have worked at length in the field in which you consider to study, you may be entitled to obtain recognition of prior Learning (RPL) or credit points (exemptions) towards completing your course based on your previous study or work experience.
No, You must demonstrate a sufficient level of English language proficiency from an approved English Language Test provider such as IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge (CAE) or Pearson (PTE).
It is a condition of your student visa that you have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of your stay in Australia. OSHC gives you access to out of hospital and in hospital medical services to help you maintain your health. OSHC does not cover dental, optical or physiotherapy.
The official time required for processing a student visa is 3 months for Australia. But, it never takes that much long. It will take around 3–4 weeks.
